acting academy

year-round program (registration is open any time that spots exist)

CastleCo Acting Academy features weekly, year-round classes where participants will be instructed in a vast range of acting (and acting related) disciplines, that are tailored to participants' ages and experience levels. Students will be added on a first-come, first-served basis and fees will be automatically drawn each month. Acting Academy classes will have limited spots available; 14 students per class (grades K-6), 12 students per class (grades 7-12). Students will hold their spot for as long as they desire to continue in the class.

 

All Acting Academy courses will be led by CCT's Stage Director Rachel Eubanks. Participants in grades 3-12 may also have the opportunity to work with guest instructors throughout the year. Guest instruction will be tailored to age/experience level and may include instruction in areas such as; voice, dance/movement, dialect, stage combat, puppetry, stage intimacy, and more.

 

Classes will be held at CastleCorner (431 3rd St. Farmington, 55025)

IMPORTANT: how to register...

  • Step 1: Read through the class descriptions below to learn about each class.

  • Step 2: RESERVE your spot in the class by following the prompts at the bottom of the page. IF the class you would like to register for is currently full, please send an email to info@castleco.org with the name of the class you'd like to attend AND the participant's name and age, and we will add you to a Waitlist for that class.

  • Step 3: WATCH FOR an email from info@castleco.org with an official REGISTRATION LINK. You will have a limited time to complete your registration and payment after you have received the link. 

Grades K-2 (and Grades 3-4, beginning actors)​

Tues. - 4:10-5:00pm​

  • Instructor: Rachel Eubanks

  • On-going, year-round sessions, each lasting 50mins.

  • Three classes/month (no class in Dec. and July) Note: when a single month cannot accommodate three classes, an additional class will be offered the following month.

  • Rotating theatre class topics that include;

    • Building confidence through theatre games

    • Exploring multiple aspects of character building

    • Growing collaboration skills while practicing scene work with others

  • Cancel any time

  • Rejoin any time there is an opening

  • $90/month (automatically drawn recurring payment)​

  • No charge for the months of Dec. and July

Grades 3-6 (select ONE of the class options below)​

Tues. - 5:10-6:00pm 

Thurs. - 5:10-6:00pm

  • Instructor: Rachel Eubanks

  • On-going, year-round sessions, each lasting 50mins.

  • Three classes/month (no class in Dec. and July) Note: when a single month cannot accommodate three classes, an additional class will be offered the following month.

  • Rotating theatre class topics that include;

    • Advanced presentation of lines and reactions

    • Learning to mark dialogue and scripts to enhance practicing ability (at home and at rehearsals) as well as increasing ability to create more complex/round characters

    • Exploring techniques for acting as an individual and with a scene partner​

  • Cancel any time

  • No charge for the months of Dec. and July

Grades 7-12​

Thurs. - 3:40-5:00pm

  • Instructor: Rachel Eubanks

  • On-going, year-round sessions, each lasting 1hr 20mins.

  • Three classes/month (no class in Dec. and July) Note: when a single month cannot accommodate three classes, an additional class will be offered the following month.

  • Rotating theatre class topics that include; 

    • Learning to mark dialogue and scripts to enhance ability to rehearse, and to dive deeper into character creation that captivates audiences and evokes emotion

    • Exploring advanced silent acting elements through reactions and movements that help actors "become" their character, increasing believability from the audience

    • Building the ability to time stage movements to music, underscoring, and scene cadence

Adults (ages 19+)​

Twice Monthly (alternating Sat. & Sun.) - see calendar

  • Instructor: Rachel Eubanks

  • On-going, year-round sessions, each lasting 1hr 30mins.

  • Three classes/month (no class in Dec. and July) Note: when a single month cannot accommodate three classes, an additional class will be offered the following month.

  • Rotating topics that include; 

    • Acting: Practice acting skills with the goal of improving (regardless of experience level), with focuses on; character building, mastering line delivery, performing monologues, responding to scene partners, and de-centering yourself from what might hold you back on stage. 

    • Intro to Improvisation: Learn the basics and build upon existing knowledge for thinking quickly on stage, supporting your scene partners, trusting your instincts, and navigating mistakes - during improv situations. 

    • Public Speaking: Spend time in the character of yourself, while learning to speak with confidence and charisma in a group setting.

  • Must be 19 years of age (or 18 years - having completed high school)

CastleCo Theatre (or CCT) is proud to have been serving the Dakota County community for 30+ years. As a community children's theater, CCT works to provide quality theater experiences for kids and adults. CCT acts as a community theater for residents of Farmington, MN, Lakeville, Rosemount, Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Shakopee and the surrounding cities. CastleCo Theatre is a community arts organization that performs in partnership with the Lakeville Area Arts Center and Lakeville Area Community Education. CCT is the longest running youth theater organization to serve Farmington and Lakeville, MN. Although CCT considers itself a community theater opportunity for kids, we are also proud to provide community theater for high school students and adults.

 

CastleCo Theatre was formerly known as Children's Castle Theater from its founding in 1993 through the summer of 2020.
