character camp (acting for ages 6-11)

Open to participants ages 6-11. Ignite your imagination and practice your acting skills with the introduction of CCT's character camps! This multi-day camp will take theatre explorers on a journey of what it means to build various types of characters commonly seen in the world of theatre. Participants will explore one character type each day (Hero, Villain, Animal, and Ensemble Characters). With the help of their instructor, aspiring actors will view examples of each character type, practice building their own character within each type, and put their skills to the test with acting games, lines, and dialogue.

acting academy (acting for ages 11-18)

Open to participants ages 11-18. This four-day summer intensive is recommended for new and experienced actors who want to finesse their understanding of the art of acting, and all that it entails. Participants will take a deep-dive into five areas of acting. Each class will include; studying the acting topic for that day, reviewing examples, and practicing the skills learned. Each course will also give participants the opportunity to share opinions and ask questions. The four topics being studied during this multi-day intensive are;

  • Delivering Monologues

  • Prop Use

  • Being an Actor who Director's Love to Work With

CCT is excited to announce the launch of CastleCo Acting Academy. The Academy will feature weekly, year-round classes where participants will be instructed in a vast range of acting (and acting related) disciplines, that are tailored to participants' ages and experience levels. Students will be added on a first-come, first-served basis and fees will be automatically drawn at the start of each month. If you'd like to be added to the priority registration list, (for advanced details and registration) please email info@castleco.org with the subject line "Acting Academy". Acting Academy classes will have limited spots available (max. 10 students per class), and students will hold their spots as long as they desire to continue in the classes. Once registration opens, those on the priority registration list will receive the first chance to register. 

 

All Acting Academy courses will be led by CCT's Stage Director Rachel Eubanks. Participants age 10+ (or younger participants who have moved up to more advanced classes) may also have the opportunity to work with guest instructors throughout the year. Guest instruction will be tailored to age/experience level and may include instruction in areas such as; voice, dance/movement, dialect, stage combat, puppetry, stage intimacy, and more.

 

Classes will be open to ages 8+ and may be open to actors as young as age 5. Details will be available in late summer with classes beginning in mid Sept. 2025.

sing through summer (youth choir)

Open to participants ages 5-12. Increase your music skills and sing through the summer by practicing and performing a variety of Disney and musical theatre songs! Participants will;

  • Improve their understanding of how to sight-read sheet music

  • Learn the steps to warming up their voice

  • Improve their ability to hear and match pitches

  • Put skills to the test by singing fun songs in a musical theatre style setting

  • Have the option to perform in an end-of-summer recital

small group voice lessons

Participants will increase their musicality and vocal skills in a small group setting of (up to) 6 participants per class. Instruction will be tailored to the group's age level as well as individual's strengths and areas for improvement. All participants will have the option to practice and perform a solo (or small group) song during an end-of-summer recital. (Performing at the recital is optional).

*Please note that an adult participant is required to stay in attendance during each lesson for the 4-6 age group.

summer dance

Improve your balance, coordination, footwork, muscle memory, and performance skills with CCT's group dance classes and Quin+essential private dance lessons. Classes are broken down by dance style, with each style focusing on different techniques to create a well rounded dancer.

All dance classes are instructed by CCT Choreographer, Quincy Aaron.

Important: All group classes for ages 3-18 listed below will be offered in partnership with Lakeville Area Community Education and will meet in the Lakeville South High School Dance Studio. All group classes for ages 19+ and all private lessons will meet at CastleCorner (431 3rd St. Farmington, 55024). Registration for these courses should be open the week of March 10.

Musical Theater (class options for ages 3-Adult)

  • Course Focus: In these classes, students will learn to build characterization through dance and music. Students can expect to improve their dance ability and performance technique, while practicing musical theatre style choreography. Students enrolled in this class are also encouraged to enroll in Ballet.

  • Course Description: Ballet is the foundation of every dance style and is recommended for all ages and genders. In these classes, students will have the opportunity to receive focused training on proper body position and dance technique. Students can expect to strengthen muscles, build balance, increase flexibility, and improve coordination - skills that will assist them in all areas of dance.

CastleCo Theatre (or CCT) is proud to have been serving the Dakota County community for 30+ years. As a community children's theater, CCT works to provide quality theater experiences for kids and adults. CCT acts as a community theater for residents of Farmington, MN, Lakeville, Rosemount, Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Shakopee and the surrounding cities. CastleCo Theatre is a community arts organization that performs in partnership with the Lakeville Area Arts Center and Lakeville Area Community Education. CCT is the longest running youth theater organization to serve Farmington and Lakeville, MN. Although CCT considers itself a community theater opportunity for kids, we are also proud to provide community theater for high school students and adults.

 

CastleCo Theatre was formerly known as Children's Castle Theater from its founding in 1993 through the summer of 2020.
